EXCEL YOUTH BRAND

Excel Youth is where I found purpose as a teenager... A long time ago, we had a brand identity and website that the very talented Freddy Bustamante created and collaborated with us on. I used to create the web images for our events and share them via a good ol' web gallery slider. Of course, years later, that website, the logo, and its image grew stale as design trends changed and smartphones grew in popularity. We had to switch things up, push through to the next decade and ultimately simplify to stay responsive - that will preach. The new Excel Youth logo and website (www.excelstudentcenter.org) gets out of the way of the user while maintaining a focus of CHRIST at the center with a big bold rounded X, in Hero font. It is a bit abstract, and a bit hipster with the lettering around the X aimed to spell the rest of the title "EXCEL." I prefer to see it as a badge, a retro-inspired logo that is versatile and can easily be placed on merchandise, as a watermark on photos, or fit in a web banner. It is as distinct and timeless as our neighborhood.
